It’s time for Noirvember 2024, and this year we pay homage to some of the greatest femme fatales to ever grace the silver screen. In this story, long considered the quintessential film noir, Barbara Stawyck shines as the seductive and conniving Phyllis Dietrichson. When Phyllis meets insurance salesman Walter Neff, played by Fred MacMurray, the two begin plotting the murder of her husband. Directed by Billy Wilder from a screenplay co-written with famed author Raymond Chandler, Double Indemnity is the perfect film to kick off our celebration of all things noir! Plus, Nevada City Mayor Gary Petersen will be in attendance to usher in Noirvember and introduce the film!
