One of the most beloved Welsh myths is brought to life on the stage with music, marionettes, theatrical storytelling, shadow puppets and a bubbling cauldron of inspired stew. The Cauldron Crone is an original re-telling and re-shaping of a story revolving around themes of inspiration, broken families, sacrifice and the often-overlooked power of the crone.
Experience the shape-shifting magic of Cerridwen, The Cauldron Crone, as she painstakingly brews a potion containing the three blessed drops of inspiration for her disfigured child Fran, the ugliest boy in the land.
A year and a day later when the three drops are ready, nothing goes as planned. In order to save her son from a life of ridicule and shame Cerridwen must make the ultimate sacrifice.
From initiation to transformation, The Cauldron Crone is spun in the spirit of the old Bardic traditions, an ancient form of theatre tinged with both magic and meaning.
