June 7, 1865: The Nevada Theatre Co. advertised in the paper a grand ball to take place at their new building on June 22, 1865. The proceeds of the Ball will be expended in furnishing the theatre in the very latest style. The price per ticket was $5.00.
June 10, 1865: The new floors are being laid and every part of the new building is being completed as fast as possible in order to have the building ready for the ball.
June 21, 1865: The committee is out all day selling tickets to the grand opening which is scheduled to be on the 4th of July.
June 27, 1865: The theatre was lighted with gas for the first time on this night with 96 burners and the Nevada Quadrille Band rehearsed their music in preparation of the grand ball. It is at this time that the statement was made: “The stage and hall are constructed with a view to acoustics, and there is not an easier place for speaking or a place better adapted to music in the entire state.” - Nevada Daily Transcript
June 29, 1865: A week later than originally advertised, the Nevada Theatre Co. throws its grand ball fund raiser to afford them the furnishings for the building. A fine supper is arranged by the Trustees which is prepared by Alex Gault and held at the Hook and Ladder Hall. The Nevada Quadrille Band under the leadership of Mr. Chase, volunteered to play their music for the occasion. It was estimated that 300 people (mostly local) came to the event and the large hall was crowded with dancers from 10pm until daylight. More than $1,000.00 was raised from the event.
