A Benefit for and Sneak Preview of SYRCL’s Wild and Scenic Film Festival. The first documentary ever made about legendary conservationist Aldo Leopold, Green Fire explores how Leopold’s personal journey led him to become one of the most important conservationists of the 20th century. It also illustrates how Leopold's vision of a community that cares about both people and land continues to inform and inspire people across the country and around the world, highlighting modern projects that put Leopold’s land ethic in action in a multitude of ways. Following the film, enjoy a panel discussion entitled "Igniting the Green Fire - Inspiration and Conservation in Nevada City" with Pulitzer Prize winning poet Gary Snyder, Louis Warren, UC Davis Professor of History and editor of Boom: A Journal of California andEli Ilano, Deputy Forest Supervisor, Tahoe National Forest. Steve Frisch, Executive Director of the Sierra Business Council will serve as moderator. Green Fire filmmakers Steve & Ann Dunsky will attend the event and introduce their film.
